How am I playing Winter? She's a little bit crazier than my usual, so I'm always open to feedback, positive or negative. Please leave me comments, suggestions, or anything else that needs to get to me. Comments are screened and anon is on. Please be warned that anonymous comments may be unscreened once I've replied to them, partly so I can make sure you can see the reply, and partly to reduce the number of people making the same comment.

Hey!

I was chatting with some other people about recent stuff going on in the game and it came up that I don't feel like it's as easy to get CR with Winter as I wish it was.

What I mean is that most of Winter's network posts seem to be addressed at CR she already has, and not a whole lot comes out of tagging her with characters who aren't already in on it. You tag back, yes, but after my own experiences and stalking some other threads, it doesn't feel like CR sticks with characters she hasn't had it with since early on or who aren't part of her Precure team.

If you've got your plate full, that's fine! I guess I'm kind of wondering why network posts with specific targets aren't locked to those people if you want to keep your plotting and your CR pool close.

Anon, I don't know how to put this diplomatically, but while I know I am slow with characters outside my CR - and that largely because my CR tends to bug me when I get behind on tags - I can't see what you're talking about on posts meant for specific CR. I tend to leave things open because I do desire replies from other people. It's possible that it comes down to my admittedly terrible backtagging habits, too, and this entire weekend is kind of a bad example, since I haven't had regular computer access for nearly a week. But even going back several months, I can't find an example of an unlocked post that was intended for only a couple of people.

Mind you, I am aware that speaks to a different problem. I know I have problems with getting to tags; that largely works out to a motivation issue dealing with a mountain of backtags. I do try to get to things, but I am aware I need to pick up the pace, and I apologize if you're asking because I dropped something. I really do want to make an effort to catch up on everything - it's a large part of why I am remaining at one character. Thanks for your input, and if there's something obvious I'm missing, I would appreciate it being called to my attention.

Hello again, I'm the anon that left crit about your Vegas plot. I noticed you replied to the other anon about their crit. I'm not sure if you didn't get the crit I left before, or hadn't gotten around to replying to it, so I wanted to nudge you again. I'm concerned about how and why a school is letting a group of underage students travel across the country to stay in Las Vegas by themselves for a length of time. This doesn't make sense to me, and I'd like further explanation on why they don't have a chaperone.

It looks I replied to it and forgot to unscreen it... that's totally my bad. I'll unscreen this one. I'm getting used to having people actually reply my HMD, so I'm still learning the buttons.

Anyway! In the original reply, I'd mentioned that Winter was winging the whole thing almost as much as I was, and so it never occurred to her. The idea I came up with then was that she'd try to find someone for about a week, and then would give up and ask her father to do it. Since then, there's been quite a bit more planning IC and OOC, and everything seems to be working out. I didn't find an actual player character of age, so Winter's father is chaperoning (with me NPCing him). By StE's rules I have a nontrivial amount of control for him to step in if something is actually happening to the students, so that should cover things in both an in-character sense as well as an out-of-character sense.

I see there's actually a comment similar to what I want to bring up to you, here so I'll just elaborate on what I see:

Your posts really do look like they're only for the CR Winter already has. I saw you talking on plurk today about how you wanted more people to tag you, and I went to look at your post. I saw absolutely nothing I could tag. My characters don't know Winter. Saying "here's food, but it won't last to get to Locke" isn't going to get Locke characters involved, and "I have no new information since last time" isn't very engaging. Asking for something new when nothing new has happened in the last two weeks due to mod drama isn't going to direct anyone who might have plot knowledge either, especially since so many Vegas characters are blatantly angry with the Locke characters. Not to mention you last post had serious paragraphs of what she's doing in Vegas in a hotel that normal Vegas people won't be able to access, and Locke people won't be able to access at all.

If you want more people outside of your CR to tag you, you're going to have to either tag out more to get more CR to respond to your posts, or provide real hooks for people to respond to. I know you want to make Winter cute, but if she's a chore to respond to, that won't get anything. And if you take days to respond to one tag it's going to be a chore, too, as it seems you only responded to one person on your post. That's not exactly welcoming when included with a "I want more people to tag it but I'm not tagging the people who have" plurk.

I admit that some of that boils down to "we can't do a whole lot without plot stuff", but for the most part, I'm still fishing for what I can do. And the reason there's only one tag on the post so far is that I haven't been in front of a computer since I posted that last night; the one that's there was a phone tag at work. This is my first time on a computer since, and I'm getting back to you first.

I know I need to tag out, and I'm trying to work on that. I know I need to tag more rapidly, and now that school's ending I'm trying to work on that. I don't want to make Winter hard to work with, but I don't know what to do aside from tag more and try to get back to tags faster. Which is, well, the golden rule of RP, I guess.

I'm also not sure what you mean by Vegas characters being angry at Locke characters - it feels like there only a couple rather than a whole bunch.

I guess I'm just not entirely sure what to do with this, other than the things I already know I need to address. If there's something else aside from tagging speed and more approachable plots, that's fine; I know not everything I do will attract new people, and I'm fine with that.

...I know I'm probably coming off a little coarse; I'm sorry for that. And I really do appreciate that you're taking time to try and help me figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm just trying to wrap my head around what I can do.
